COVID-19 UPDATES

Metta Lifestyles is committed to protecting our residents and staff. We are taking extra precautions to keep our residents safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. In preparation for the second wave, Metta Lifestyles has developed a plan for prevention, and will continue to monitor and follow the guidelines as outlined by the Government and Public Health, adapting our protocols accordingly. Many things will continuously change throughout this pandemic, but our commitment to service and care will always remain the same.

FALL PREVENTION PLANNING

As Fall arrives, Metta Lifestyles is committed to working with the changing health landscape. We are consistently monitoring the advice of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health. We are reassessing decisions based on this advice and re-evaluating scenarios as circumstances change to strengthen our ability to adapt and respond. The Government of Canada recently announced the likelihood of a second wave of the pandemic. Therefore, we are planning to ensure that each of our homes is ready in the event of another lockdown. We are prepared to respond quickly and efficiently.

Throughout the planning and preparation process, the Metta Lifestyles staff is continually trained and kept up-to-date on new prevention measures. Transparency and clear communication will be the driving force and guiding principles behind everything that we do.

Please feel free to reach out to Metta Lifestyles if you want to learn more about our plans, prevention and safety measures or if you have any questions.

VISITATION

Metta Lifestyles began a careful, phased approach to the gradual resumption of resident visits during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring residents receive visitors safely to help protect against the risk of COVID-19. All visitors are instructed to adhere to the requirements set out in our COVID-19 Visitor Policy.

  • There are currently indoor and outdoor visitation areas in each home; staff will clean and disinfect the visiting area after each visit

  • All visitors and residents are required to wear a mask and maintain physical distance

  • All visitors must pre-arrange their visits with the home. Visitors may only visit the resident they are scheduled to see and no other residents

  • Visitations are staggered to ensure physical distancing and enough time for our staff to disinfect visitation areas

  • Staff members will be screening all visitors before entering the residence

  • The Metta Lifestyles COVID-19 Visitor Policy is provided to all visitors. It will also be available on the premises for visitors

Metta Lifestyles is always available to give more information about specific homes; please contact us to learn more.

TESTING & VISITATIONS

Metta Lifestyles conducts COVID-19 tests within our homes to ensure early detection and prevent the spread throughout the residence. Metta Lifestyles’ staff is being strongly encouraged to be tested every two weeks. If a resident is being tested, we will contact the family directly and ensure that they are updated with any news.

Visitations will be suspended if a resident or staff member is being tested for COVID-19, visits will not resume until there is a negative test result, and there are no other concerns.  We must make decisions with resident health and safety in mind.  We acknowledge that pausing visitations may be an inconvenience or worrying to some families.  Metta Lifestyles is committed to communicating to residents and families along the way.
