Our Chefs

Peter Lee, Executive Red Seal Chef

Peter’s career in culinary began in 2004. While pursuing his Music degree, he was inspired by a quote his percussion teacher once said:

“Avoid putting your hobby as your career, or else what would you do on your time off?”

After pondering on this thought, he came to a realization that he also really enjoys cooking. So he decided to pursue his career in Culinary Arts instead, as the trend at that point in time was all about “Fine Dining”. Peter then took two diploma courses from Liaison College of Culinary Arts where he learned the fundamentals of cooking, and then pursued a Culinary Management diploma from Humber College. From there, his passion and dedication for the restaurant industry was recognized and his culinary career took off after being placed at a Fine Dining Italian Restaurant in Mississauga. This is where he earned his Inter-Provincial Red Seal certification for cooking and was classically trained and embraced by a Master Chef from Madrid, Spain: Fernando Garcia. They cooked consistently for players from the well-recognized Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors.

Needless to say, on his time off, Peter still enjoys playing the drums where he serves as a member of the touring worship team at his church. Peter and his wife currently reside in Markham Ontario.

Jessica Ing, Sous Chef

I have worked in the retirement industry for just over 8 years. I started my cooking career with a passion for baking in my early teens. I would bake cakes just for the heck of it and decorate cupcakes on a weekly basis for family and friends. Overtime, my taste changed, and nutrition really started to pique my interests. I was inspired to create healthy dishes for myself and others. I often used my younger, yet brave sister as my guinea pig to sample my creations. Over time, I realized I wanted to pursue a career in the culinary world. I enrolled into George Brown for Culinary and Nutrition which eventually directed me to The Roxborough Retirement Residence. I worked here along side many great chefs that inspired and taught me how to sharpen my skills.. and knives!

When I am not cooking in the kitchen. I can most likely be found doing one of several different hobbies. From tennis, to fishing, to gardening or even trying something new!

Farm to Table

Metta Lifestyles' Farm to Table initiative promotes sourcing and serving locally grown produce, purchased from local farmers or grown by the residents of Metta Lifestyles communities as part of our Horticulture Therapy program! Not only does sourcing locally benefit the local economy, but provides our residents with a more nutritious, natural, and delicious dining experience free of preservatives!

Care Services

Our Health and Wellness team is on staff 24 hours a day. We make your loved one’s health and safety a priority. When your loved one joins our community, you can feel confident that they have constant access to the help they need.

As people age, they may require complex care. Governor's Walk is equipped to handle all types of senior care allowing our residents to age in place. Our dedicated memory care wing and programming allows seniors to live a healthy active lifestyle.
