Governors Walk Care Programs Available

Governors Walk is our beautifully located Retirement home nestled in the New Edinburgh community, right across from Stanley Park - known for its lush gardens and home to the Governor General’s residence Rideau Hall.

At Governors Walk, we bring a new perspective to senior living, allowing families and residents to personalize their care to fit their needs. In Governors Walk we promote an active lifestyle for residents focusing on our four pillars:

Compassion | Dignity | Security | Respect

Governors Walk is one of Ottawa’s hidden gems, steeped in history and old-world charm.

Across from our dining room is our well-known chapel. Many of our residents at Governors Walk were members of this church, some were baptized and even married here! This building holds historical importance to the community and the residents.

Another historical element to this building is the world-renowned Frescos painted by Ugo Chyurlia. He was commissioned by the Franciscan Order to decorate the Monastery and St. Vincent de Paul Church. One of Chyurlia’s pieces is still on display in the Governors Walk chapel.

Sensory Murals

A unique feature of Metta Memory is the interactive element through our Sensory Murals. These are located in the neighbourhood's common areas that offer comforting memories with sensory activities that will be familiar, meaningful, and calming to our residents. Each of these sensory murals is designed to evoke familiar memories.

Our sensory murals focus on residents' memories from their homes. We've included an interactive gardening shed that offers gardening activities. There is also a 1950's kitchen and scenic view from a porch. Each sensory murals offers a variety of activities that engage the resident but also allows for interaction with family members.
